Congratulations to all of you who signed up to participate in Stacey’s First Annual Summer Shred!!? We were pleasantly surprised by the level of interest in this competition and the number of people who signed up; this thing is going to be bigger than we expected!? We’re very excited to see how much progress you’re all going to make during the next month, and we want to help you get the best results possible.? So, to get you off on the right foot, here are our? Keys to Success for this competition:

  1. “Journalize” Your Food!! It’s important that you focus on taking in unprocessed, natural foods, and we predict that the winners of this competition are going to be those people who take the time to keep a food journal.? Studies show this to be an amazingly effective practice for people desiring to lose weight.? You can either go to www.bodyspex.com and use the tools for food tracking there, or grab the nearest spiral notebook and do it the old-fashioned way.? In either case, this discipline will be critical to your success!
  2. LOTS of exercise! You know that you need to participate in 8 Arena Fitness workouts during the course of this competition in order to qualify for prizes, and this should make up the core of your workout program, but DON’T STOP THERE!? For maximum success, you should get up to 5 days of exercise per week!? This doesn’t have to be done at Arena Fitness or any other fitness training facility, but it needs to be done.? So, put together a plan for what you’re going to do to burn calories on your days away from the gym; take a rigorous hike or bike ride, swim, walk or run in the hills, go stair-climbing at the beach or nearest football field, take a Zumba class somewhere, anything that gets your heart pumping.? Be smart, don’t hurt yourself, but focus on cardio exercise and make sure you do it rigourously enough for it to be challenging.
  3. Take AT LEAST one day a week off from exercise! If you’re doing a significant amount of exercise your body will need time to recover.? Take at least one day off from exercise completely.? The worst thing you can do is overtrain, which can lead to injury and burnout.? Challenge yourself, but pace yourself, you need to be prudent in how you approach this.

There are some other things you need to do to be successful in this event (set and maintain realistic goals, visualize success, get plenty of sleep, drink a lot of water, etc.), but these are the three areas that may very well determine the winners of this competition.

Check into our Facebook page every day at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Arena-Fitness-Training-Center/226441931275?ref=ts for daily tips on how to be successful in your weight loss quest.? And, as always, you can contact Stacey at [email protected] for advice and extra help.

Good luck, we’re proud of all of you!
